Sound Engineers
Sound engineers set up and use soundboard and other sound equipment during recordings, concerts, and performances, ensuring that levels are correct and the sound mix is right.
Their work is the finishing touch on the artist’s performance, guaranteeing that the music sounds good for both the performer onstage and for the people in the crowd. In some cases they also assist with lighting and special effects.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Execute the recording process from start to finish, to include recording mixing, and editing
- Assist in session set-up, recording, and tear-down
- Sit in on and observe recording/mixing sessions on a regular basis
- Tend to artists in a studio environment
- Use audio software and outboard gear
- Maintain a professional recording studio
- Understand signal flow
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in production or audio engineering
- At least 3-6 years of experience in the industry in how to use, maintain, and clean sound boards
- Proficient at using recording software
Digital Distribution Manager
Primary responsibilities include:
- Assist in maintaining content calendar for email marketing and YouTube channels
- Learn to manage metadata and media assets and assist on music distribution to digital services (Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, etc.)
- Learn to curate playlists and help manage Break -Thru Records curated playlists
- Assist with YouTube channel uploads & optimization through tagging, targeting, etc.
- Learn about YouTube CMS and manage takedowns & monetization of user generated content
- Contribute to Digital Advertising & overall digital marketing strategies
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4+ years of industry experience
- Master’s Degree or higher

A&R Manager
The A&R Manager is expected to oversee the administrative duties of the A&R department and assist with the creative execution of projects. The A&R Department operates as the primary source of record making and vision casting with the artists. He or she is responsible for locating and signing new talent and continuing to make records for currently signed artists.
As an A&R Manager, you will:
- Learn the skills behind creating splits & contracts for songs
- Develop the art of curating music for artists
- Learn skills behind the logistics of bringing a song to completion
- Gain an understanding of the song creation process
- Sharpen your understanding of publishing & royalties
- Learn project based management and coordination skills
Primary responsibilities include:
- Document and file writer and publishing splits for all songs being released
- Compile credits and liner notes for all songs
- File management of tracks, songs, and hooks received from producers and writers
- Update contract templates with correct information and prep for signatures
- Help oversee administration of recording budgets
- Submit invoices to accounts payable for payment processing
- Coordinate travel, lodging, and transportation logistics for sessions, special guests, and creative clients, etc.

Social Media Marketing Coordinator
Social Media Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring Break-Thru Records’ Social Media strategy in order to increase brand exposure & awareness, improve Marketing efforts and increase sales. This person must research market trends, use metadata in analysis, and present plan proposals to other executives of the company. In addition, this role is required to work closely with the Public Relations Department Head.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Assist with posting social media content
- Learn to communicate and engage on all social media platforms
- Learn to facilitate and see through social content requests
- Help maintain social content timelines/calendars
- Organize social media assets
- Learn how to deliver reports on social media accounts and campaigns
- Contribute social media strategy ideas for all platforms
- Offer and implement new strategies for our online communities

Intern
Our intern is expected to assist the sound engineers in completing recording projects. In addition, they will complete general tasks assigned to them by the leaders in the production department. This internship will allow students to gain industry insight in how a record is recorded, mastered, and distributed. We do not accept interns with artist aspirations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Musical knowledge is a plus
- Solid Pro Tools experience
- Solid foundation of sound engineering
- Knowledge of signal flow
- Eagerness to learn
Requirements & Competencies:
- Must be a student enrolled in an accredited institution of higher learning at the time of application (verifiable with an official verification of enrollment)
- Must be able to receive course credit for the internship
- Must provide their own laptop for the duration of the internship
- Must be able to secure transportation for the duration of the internship.

Finance Manager
Financial Manager will touch all levels of finance from entry-level bookkeeping to financial modeling for future scenarios. This position requires mastery over general bookkeeping practices and experience with financial analysis and forecasting. This is a mid-range position that will wear many hats. Candidates should be eager to learn and contribute strategically to the company’s future with a strong self-starter disposition. The ability to problem solve quickly and give attention to detail is essential. Familiarity with music royalties is desired, but not required.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile transactions
- Report organization’s finances to management and offers suggestions about resource utilization
- Prepare and process payroll

Primary responsibilities include:

Operations Director:

Creative Director
As Creative Director at Break- Thru Records you will be responsible for managing the design process for album packaging, merchandising ( Break- Thru Records and artist), advertising and marketing collateral. You guide the development of visual campaigns for physical packaging, digital packages, merchandise, marketing collateral graphics, as well as publicity photo shoots. This position reports to the VP of Marketing.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Facilitate creative design meetings with artists to choose quality design direction and designers for-hire
- Maintain and develop a wide network of for-hire graphic designers, photographers, etc.
- Commission album creative and packaging design, and communicate with freelance designers
- Facilitate design production timelines and logistics through to completion
- Manage album packaging design (disc packaging design, disc artwork, liner notes, typography layout, logo placements, manufacturing labeling)
- Commission and direct photo shoots for packaging, artists press and publicity
- Shape design standards and create procedures to ensure design materials are brand appropriate
- Commission mock-ups for merchandise and prepare tech packs for manufacturing
- Commission design for Industry material (One sheets)
- Facilitate digital design requests, or delegate to for-hire designers where necessary
- Maintain and organize graphic design equipment and assets

The General Manager is the decision maker at a label, overseeing all aspects of an album’s creation such as marketing, budgeting, distribution, and promotional shoots.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Wear a lot of hats
- Generate metadata and barcodes for a release.
- Attend marketing strategy meetings with the label’s distribution department
- An excellent understanding of what a successful campaign entails and how each department within the label contributes to that success.
- Oversee video or photo shoots, marketing plan strategies, budgets and pricing, social media strategizing with our social media teams, etc.
