Sound Engineers

Sound engineers set up and use soundboard and other sound equipment during recordings, concerts, and performances,

ensuring that levels are correct and the sound mix is right.

 Their work is the finishing touch on the artist’s performance, guaranteeing that the music sounds good for both the performer onstage

 and for the people in the crowd. In some cases they also assist with lighting and special effects.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Execute the recording process from start to finish, to include recording mixing, and editing
  • Assist in session set-up, recording, and tear-down
  • Sit in on and observe recording/mixing sessions on a regular basis
  • Tend to artists in a studio environment
  • Use audio software and outboard gear
  • Maintain a professional recording studio
  • Understand signal flow


  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in production or audio engineering
  • At least 3-6 years of experience in the industry in how to use, maintain, and clean sound boards
  • Proficient at using recording software
